Our 16-month ABSN program, with three start dates per year, makes earning a nursing degree on an accelerated timeline accessible to qualified students.

To become eligible for admission into our program, you must:

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree or have at least 60 non-nursing credits from a regionally accredited institution.

  • Have a minimum cumulative 2.8 GPA across all prior institutions.

  • Complete prerequisites within our specified grade requirements.*

  • Pass the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) V exam with a score of 65 percent or higher within one year of application.**

*Students with prerequisite courses in progress will receive provisional admission into the program, subject to their successful completion of remaining prerequisites taken at Averett University.
**Students may re-take the TEAS V exam up to two times within a 12-month period at their own expense.

The Averett University Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing program builds upon your existing college education, making it possible for you to earn your BSN in 16 months. While people with non-nursing bachelor’s degrees are eligible for the program, applicants with at least 60 non-nursing credits may also qualify. In fact, it’s the only ABSN program in Virginia that doesn’t exclusively require a bachelor’s degree for admission.
